Despite Everything

+ +Excluding the cryptic, this is my first themeless puzzle. I hadn't made one in a while and had the itch, so I popped open my spreadsheet of "Words and clues I'd like to put into a puzzle" and constructed a grid around one of them.
+ +As my own worst critic I'm obligated to point out that there are a couple words that I didn't want to have to use. But it's fine, I think I clued those areas fairly easy so it should all be gettable... I hope, anyway. As a puzzle tossed together for its own sake I've chosen once again to not have anyone test solve it (let alone start over with a new grid), so I hope you enjoy finding out with me!
+ +Temporary note: I'll remove this warning once I've noticed the problem is fixed but if you're reading this right now: I uploaded a broken .puz file to Crosshare and didn't notice until after publishing it! The question marks in 30A are supposed to be this emoji: ❌ I've fixed it manually but the wrong version is still cached. Oops. The downloadable .puz file is correct.
